Simon Richards qualified in Cambridge in 1983 after completing a science degree at St Andrews.

He spent 8 years with the Royal Army Medical Corps, serving in Chester, Germany, Northern Ireland, the Falklands and in the First Gulf War.

He completed General Practice training during his military service and became a partner in Thorney Medical Practice in 1991.

Within the practice, he takes responsibility for training, appraisals and matters relating to computers.

He is married to Helena and has three daughters - Laura, Harriet and Imogen.

Away from the practice, he is a Governor of Peakirk-cum-Glinton Primary School, Choirmaster of the local church choir, an enthusiastic digital photographer and amateur musician. He enjoys playing golf when time allows.
