PRACTICE NURSES

The practice nurses run their own clinics, by appointment. They perform all aspects of general practice nursing care, including health promotion clinics. They are happy to give advice on travel vaccination, smoking cessation, weight control and contraceptive care. The nurses perform the majority of the cervical smears.

        

 

 

 

HEALTH VISITOR

 

Sue Johnson, The Health Visitor can be contacted at Thorney Surgery — 01733 270725, between 9am and 10am on weekdays. She will be happy to advise on all aspects of child health and development, and all aspects of family health care.

 

 

 

                           DISTRICT (COMMUNITY) NURSES

Mr Raj Alhadad and his team work in the patient’s home, when they are unable to get to the surgery. They give a wide variety of care, including dressings and the taking of blood. They are in constant contact with the doctors and also refer appropriate patients to other agencies, including Social Services, Macmillan Nurses and the Continence Care Service.

 

 

COMMUNITY MIDWIFERY

 

The Community Midwifery Service operate clinics in both surgeries and provides most of the pregnancy care in uncomplicated pregnancy. They may be contacted via the surgery.

 

 

SMOKING CESSATION SERVICE

 

Sarina Singh does clinics at Eye Surgery on a weekly basis. Please make an appointment at Eye Surgery Reception.
