APPOINTMENT SYSTEM
The practice operates advanced access.
Doctors’ appointments are made on the day you wish to be seen. Please ring as early as possible after 8.00am to secure an appointment time that is convenient for you. The doctors hold clinics in both surgeries in rotation.
Some appointments are pre-bookable - these will include the 08.30 - 9.00 am appointments daily, as well as appointments from 10.00 to 10.30 (Tuesday to Friday) and 17.00 - 17.30 (Tuesday to Thursday). These appointments are, of course, available to all patients but we would request that they are intended for patients whose working schedule makes booking on the same day a problem.
*****NEW EXTENDED HOURS SERVICE *****
The practice now holds a late surgery from 6.30 pm to 8.00pm each Monday
This is at Thorney Surgery and is staffed by 2 of the doctors working in rotation
This late service is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
Appointments are available up to 2 weeks in advance.
It is intended that this service is provided for those patients whose work commitments prevent them from making appointments in the day time.
No medical examinations (Pre-employment, HGV etc) will be done in late surgery
In any event, please ring before 11am for a morning surgery appointment and before 4pm for an evening surgery appointment. If the surgeries are full, patients ringing after these times may be asked to ring the following day for an appointment.
The practice undertakes to offer a “same day” appointment to all patients who ring in time. This appointment may be at either of the 2 surgeries in the practice to make best use of the doctors’ availability. If you wish to see a particular doctor, you may have to wait until that doctor is available. Surgery staff will advise you accordingly.
If it is possible to attend a morning surgery, please consider this option to relieve the pressures on evening surgeries.
Nurses’ appointments may be booked in advance.
If you are unable to keep your appointment with any member of the practice team, please inform the surgery so that it can be offered to someone else.
TELEPHONE CONSULTATIONS
The doctors can deal with many problems without the need for an appointment – for example, a simple question about medication or a discussion about the results of tests or a hospital letter. The reception staff will advise and arrange an approximate time when the doctor will return your call.
HOME VISITS
Home Visits are made to patients whose illness prevents them from attending the surgery or who are housebound. If you cannot attend surgery and need a doctor to visit, please telephone the surgery before 10.30am. Non-urgent visits requested after 10.30am may be delayed until the following day.
Many more facilities for examination, investigation and treatment are available in the surgery than at home. Please arrange to get to the surgery if you possibly can.
